Rich has a BSc in Engineering from the University of California and served in the US Navy as a Line Officer on two amphibious ships, as Assistant Engineer for Damage Control and Chief Engineer. He later completed an MSc in Mechanical Engineering degree at San Diego State University before joining Solar Turbines in San Diego as a Technical Service Engineer. During his 38 years at Solar, Rich held various technical and management positions within Customer Services, Package Engineering, and Commissioning. His technical expertise includes field performance of turbines and gas compressors, vibration analysis, compressor aerodynamic performance, and compressor seal systems, both wet and dry.
For a major period of his career, he was involved in technical support and troubleshooting of field compressor problems. He has travelled extensively and lived in Belgium for several years during construction and commissioning of a test cell for Solar’s 15,000 hp Mars engine and served as a Regional Field Engineer supporting customer equipment in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Rich retired from Solar Turbines in 2011 and we are delighted to welcome him to the AJSS team in 2018.
