AJSS was contracted to balance a Synchronous Condenser Rotor at a wind farm in regional Victoria to meet the customer’s vibration requirements and ensure proper synchronisation with the electricity grid. The project was completed across two visits in March and May 2022. AJSS engineers conducted comprehensive vibration readings and a balancing procedure, successfully reducing vibration by up to 92.5%. This precise balancing ensured the rotor’s continued operation and optimal performance in the grid, meeting the customer’s stringent vibration specifications.

AJSS was engaged by an oil and natural gas exploration and production company to perform a comprehensive technical assessment of lubricant proposals from various suppliers. The goal was to validate the compatibility of new lubricant products with the company’s existing fleet of equipment. AJSS carefully compared technical parameters from the incumbent lubricants and the proposed alternatives, ensuring their compatibility in terms of physical, chemical, and performance standards. As a result, AJSS identified suitable lubricant alternatives, providing the customer with valuable insights for supplier selection and equipment optimisation.

AJSS provided an independent infrastructure fund management firm with a detailed desktop review of the condition of seven gas turbines at a Western Australia power station. The review aimed to evaluate the turbines' economic resale potential, considering factors like run hours, vibration data, and performance metrics. Through a comprehensive condition-based and financial assessment, AJSS identified the limiting factors affecting resale viability and provided recommendations for maintaining or improving the turbines' value for potential resale.

AJSS successfully supported an Asset Management Company in expanding a compressor facility by integrating two new compressor trains, consisting of screw and reciprocating compressor packages. From the early stages of design and factory acceptance testing to on-site installation and commissioning, AJSS ensured minimal downtime and compliance with OEM requirements. By carefully managing integration into existing operations, AJSS enabled the facility to increase its capacity, ultimately meeting the customer’s goal for enhanced operational efficiency.

AJSS delivered a comprehensive Major Inspection on a GE Frame 6B gas turbine, returning a previously OEM-condemned unit to full operational service. The project covered full disassembly, inspection, repair and replacement of critical components, followed by reassembly, alignment correction, commissioning support, and vibration analysis during start-ups. This case study demonstrates AJSS’s strengths in major gas turbine inspections, precision reassembly, commissioning support, and safety-led execution of complex outages within the power generation sector.

AJSS delivered the decommissioning and upgrade of an obsolete gas chromatograph and sulphur analyser system at a major compressor station, completing the works within a tightly constrained outage period. The project resolved equipment obsolescence, integration challenges, and compliance requirements by safely removing legacy systems, modifying existing infrastructure, and installing an integrated GC and SA solution. This case study highlights AJSS’s strengths in analyser upgrades, brownfield integration, industrial electrical compliance, and disciplined execution in live operational environments.

AJSS delivered the complete decommissioning of a gas-fired power station, managing the project from initial feasibility assessment through to turbine dismantling, auxiliary system removal, demolition, and final site remediation. The project solved the challenge of safely decommissioning end-of-life assets while preserving turbine packages for resale, demonstrating AJSS’s capability in complex brownfield projects, rotating-equipment handling, asset preservation, and disciplined, safety-led project execution.
