Situation

AJSS were contacted by a customer to assist with a compressor facility expansion project. The customer was seeking to increase the facility’s capacity through the addition of two new compressor trains consisting of screw compressor and reciprocating compressor packages.

Task

AJSS supplied a Project Engineer responsible for the Compressor packages and the Mechanical BoP work. The Project Engineer worked with the compressor vendor during the fabrication of the compressor packages and factory acceptance testing. The compressor packages were then shipped to Australia for installation and commissioning on site.

Action

The AJSS Project Engineer worked with the Construction team to ensure that the compressor package, including the enclosure, was installed as per the design and OEM requirements. The AJSS Project Engineer developed the scopes of work for conducting the integration of the new compressor packages into the existing facility ensuring there was minimal downtime. Finally the AJSS Project Engineer assisted with the commissioning of the newly installed compressor units and the overall facility for the increased capacity operation. The AJSS Project Engineer then integrated all the new compressor and mechanical assets into the existing operational strategies, plans, schedules, registers, procedures, and work instructions.

Result

AJSS assisted its customer in achieving its goal of increasing its compressor facility expansion resulting in an increased capacity.

Peter holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from Monash University and an Advance Diploma in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering from the Engineering Institute of Technology in Perth. Peter has 9+ years of experience working within the Gas Transmission Industry and began his career with Jemena in 2010 as a graduate Engineer. Peter then moved into the role of Rotating Equipment Engineer and later Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer as well as other various roles within Jemena. Peter's experience includes; condition and performance monitoring, operation and control room support, asset strategy development, project management, project support, maintenance strategy, maintenance scheduling, engineering assessments, asset management and on-call support. Peter is experienced with turbine engines, reciprocating engines, gas reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, fuel systems, compressed air systems, control systems and various static equipment. Peter is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Professional Engineer of Queensland and a Certified Practitioner of Asset Management.
